Where It Began…

Before the yarn, before the stitches… there was just an idea.

A quiet curiosity around expression — how something so small can carry feeling, personality, intention.

I started sketching, not just shapes, but emotion.

How can a face feel gentle? Apologetic. Thoughtful. Kind.

How do you translate that… into stitches?

That became the real question.

Being away from my usual stash — the yarn, the books, the comfort of my creative space — has shifted everything. It’s stripped things back. Made it quieter. More intentional.

Instead of reaching for what I have, I’ve been sitting with:

What do I want this to say?

How do I want this to be received?

Because this isn’t just about making something that looks good.

It’s about what the pattern holds… and what the finished piece gives.

There’s a duality in it.

The making — slow, thoughtful, grounding.

And the gifting — whether to yourself or someone else — a small, soft expression of care.

This bee started as a sketch.

But really… it started as a feeling I wanted to understand.

And I’m still translating that, one stitch at a time ✨
